The Sacred Feminine, Now More than Ever An Evening Consideration for Women and Men

Tonight’s invitation is to spend some time with two elders, women who have been walking a Path of the Sacred for many decades: Ginny Matthews within Buddhism and as an elder with “Women of Spirit and Faith,” and Regina Sara Ryan in both Christian and Hindu spiritual communities. With them, we’ll consider what the Sacred Feminine is, along with its relation to and need for the Sacred Masculine, and how we may encourage these essential aspects of our souls, for our own benefit and for the healing of a sorely wounded world.

Myosho Ginny Matthews finds her life’s support in the three pillars of family, spiritual practice, and her work as a dancer/ choreographer and teacher. She was a student of Kyozan Joshu Sasaki, Roshi for forty years, taking ordination in 2000 and supporting Myoko Ni Sorin, a women’s practice center, co-founding Dharma Heart Center, and leading women’s retreats at various centers in the USA and Canada. Her marriage of over fifty years, three adult sons, and four grandchildren provide a rich and deep family life.

Regina Sara Ryan, a professional writer and freelance editor, is the author of numerous books, including The Woman Awake, Praying Dangerously, and Igniting the Inner Life. A former Catholic nun, Regina has studied contemplation and mysticism from several traditions for over forty years. She currently conducts study groups, retreats and workshops in the U.S., Mexico and Europe. Married for forty-seven years, Regina was widowed in 2019. She resides as a hearth-keeper at Triveni Ashram, Paulden, Arizona.
