Processing Seeds After Harvest

Seed saving gives us the opportunity to work with full life cycle of a plant not just the edible parts. Once you’ve collected your seed it’s important to know how to separate this seed from the chaff or from it’s pulpy fruit! Saving your own seeds is a deeply satisfying task that connects us to our ancestors who saved seeds from foraged and grown crops. It is also a way to save lots of money when you learn how to grow and process your own localized seeds.

In this hands-on class, you will learn a variety of seed processing techniques. There will be demonstrations of dry and wet seed processing. Learn how to winnow dry seeds and how to make and use seed screens. Get messy with fermented tomato seeds.

We will be processing broccoli, beans and tomato seeds.
