Practiced lying down in savasana with guided verbal instructions that occupy the mind as the body relaxes\, we shift into pratyahara (sense withdrawal) – remaining a witness\, awake and aware\, we move into a subtle state of deep conscious sleep (the state between wakefulness and sleep). We work through levels of the unconscious and subconscious\, removing energetic blockages. \nThis experience is a powerful way to set our intention for the new year and plant it’s seeds with our Sankalpa (Resolve\, Resolution\, Force of Will) which is established during yoga nidra. When our mind is calm and quiet during yoga nidra it is more receptive and sensitive to our intentions as they are impressed on the subconscious mind. \nWe will begin with a peace chant\, calming & subtle evening yogic breathing practices including mantra pranayama – breathing practices with chanting or rumination on the Om & internal sound current – nada) before the yoga nidra practice.

Benjamin and Melanie will each offer solo songs as well as lead the audience in raising their voices for social and racial justice and compassionate community. It filled me with grief. So to hold the grief\, I began this series of paintings from my garden. From my surroundings. From what I could see from where I was. I thought the paintings will be filled with dark murky shapes. I was\, and am\, surprised by the joy of loving well.
