SUMMARY:Sonoma County Art Trails
DESCRIPTION:Sonoma County Art Trails\, one of the oldest juried annual Open Studio tours in the country\, is celebrating its 38th year. This fall\, 130 professional local artists from Healdsburg to Petaluma and Sonoma to the Coast will welcome visitors into their studios to see the paintings\, prints\, drawings\, mixed media art\, jewelry\, sculpture\, photography\, fiber arts\, ceramics\, glass\, and woodworking that make Sonoma County an art destination. \nThe last weekends of September 30 – October 1 and October 7-8\, visitors can plan their own tour using the full-color Collector’s Guide (available in print and online). The self-guided tour and the Collector’s Guide are FREE! To locate the art studios and see an image of their work\, download the guide at www.SonomaCountyArtTrails.org or pick up a print version at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts\, 282 S. High Street\, Sebastopol\, CA 95472\, and at stores and galleries throughout the County. Then follow the blue signs posted around the county that direct visitors to each studio. The Art Trails Preview Exhibit features a piece of work by each of the participating artists\, taking place at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts. The Opening Reception will be on Thursday\, September 14\, from 6-8pm\, and the show continues through October 15th\, when we will host a closing reception. Additional smaller Preview Exhibits will be at Corrick’s and My Daughter the Framer in Santa Rosa\, Gallery One in Petaluma\, and Healdsburg Center for the Arts\, and Bodega Art Gallery. Collector’s Guides are also available at these locations. \nEXPLORE the beauty of Sonoma County’s wine country as the vineyards take on their fall colors. DESCRIPTION:The Sebastopol Climate Action Committee is working on a project to revitalize the Sebastopol Community Garden.  We are planning a work party on Oct 8 from 10am to 1pm to continue the revitalization project we began last spring.  \nThe spring work party really made a difference.  Volunteers scraped  out the existing path\, weeded and pruned making the garden much more inviting.  The city was able to rent out more of the garden boxes but there is more maintenance to attend to and more boxes to be rented out. \nWe hope to have enough workers on Oct.8 to weed\, prune\, spread compost from the Compost Give Away around the fruit trees and scrape weeds from the path.  We also hope to bring a sander and paint to restore the picnic table under the roof. \nWe would welcome volunteer groups or individuals to help us any time between 10am and 1pm.  Volunteers can bring gloves and any tools they may have such as shovels(flat and pointed)\, loppers\, pruners\, etc. \nOur group can be reached at sebastopolsinkscarbon@gmail.com\nPlease bring your reusable water bottle and snacks for yourself

Compost will be available until the pile is gone. Please ask volunteers for help if you are in need of assistance shoveling and loading your compost.

DESCRIPTION:ANDREW DUHON: \nIt was Leo Tolstoy who said “All great literature is one of two stories; a man goes on a\njourney or a stranger comes to town\,” and in the case of Andrew Duhon and his latest album\nEmerald Blue\, both instances are true. Duhon temporarily left New Orleans\,his longtime\nhome and musical muse in 2019\, finding himself inspired by the landscape of the Pacific\nNorthwest and notably\, its colors\n—  a hue he describes as ‘emerald blue’ for which the album is named\, the same shade looking back at him in his partner’s eyes. Had he overlooked the specific shade of her eyes while living below sea level? Or did the change of location open his mind more acutely? SUMMARY:Yoga & Hike on the Sonoma Coast
DESCRIPTION:Yoga Sadhana (Practice)\nIn the cool morning air\, overlooking the beautiful pacific ocean\, I will guide you through a 90 minute TriYoga Practice. As this will be one day post the new moon\, you will have an opportunity to reflect on your intentions\, set positive goals\, and channel your energy towards personal growth and transformation. \nThe beautiful natural surroundings will likely enhance the overall experience\, helping you to connect more deeply with your inner self and the world around you.\nThis workshop includes; Asana (posture)\, Pranayama (rhythmic breath)\, Mudra (inner focus)\, Dharana (concentration)\, and Dhyana (meditation). TriYoga will harmonize and calm your nervous system\, leaving your whole being balanced\, bathed in inner peace\, and blissful in presence. \nNext\, Rebecca will lead us in 20 minute walking meditation practice\, winding through a nearby magical Labyrinth. The practice of walking meditation reduces stress\, improves mental clarity\, and stabilizes emotions. \nWe will end the workshop by sharing insights\, appreciation\, and questions you may have about the experience. The workshop will commence at 9AM\, and end by Noon. \nThe Hike\nAfter the yoga program\, an optional hike on the Pomo Canyon Trail to Redhill is offered to those who are interested in joining. The hike is a 4.4 mile loop with 1\,102 ft. elevation gain. The hike is considered a moderately challenging hike for experienced hikers\, which takes an average of 2 hours and 25 minutes. Hiking speeds and return times may vary. Yoga postures and meditation may be incorporated into the hike. \nKashi is the Founding Director of Kashi Ananda Yoga (formerly Devi Yoga Center) in Sebastopol\, CA and a senior teacher of TriYoga International. She is also a Yoga Therapist approved by IAYT. Kashi loves helping others connect to their joyful state through yoga practice and spending time in nature.\n​\nRebecca is a Certified Interpretive Guide\, California Naturalist\, and Programs Manager for Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods. SUMMARY:Sebastopol Fire Department's Meet Your Neighbors (MYN) Program Class
DESCRIPTION:The MYN Class discusses emergency preparedness actions and emergency response steps that many in the Sebastopol area have been adopting. Although much of the emergency information is common and well publicized nationally and locally\, what the MYN Class really promotes is working together with our neighbors on implementing the information. The neighborhood approach to preparing for and responding to emergencies improves resilience for all involved. The Meet Your Neighbors Program has been evolving for many years now to implement ways for neighbors and neighborhoods to adopt local preparedness methods and patterns that will improve how each of us (and our neighbors and neighborhoods) respond during emergencies.
