DESCRIPTION:Join local artist Hannah Day at Bohemian Flower Farm this fall for a one-day watercolor workshop and farm-to-table meal. Bohemian is a flower and vegetable farm located in Occidental\, across the highway from Wildflower Bakery. The farm is known for their colorful arrangements filled with unique flowers and foliage\, and for their farmstand that sells their produce alongside their bouquets\, wreaths\, and fresh lemonade. The class will gather in the farm’s old barn\, around a large wooden farm table filled with autumnal abundance – colorful straw flowers and beautiful heirloom gourds – to paint a fall still life. Participants will work step by step through rendering our subjects with close observation\, foundational drawing skills\, and watercolor technique. With a mix of demonstration and individual instruction\, artists of all experience levels can walk away with a meaningful creative experience. After painting\, you will enjoy lunch\, prepared by farmer Bree and made from produce grown on the farm.

Participants will create and print their own fabric designs in what Asual calls “Talking Cloths.” \nUsing 4–6 hand-painted stamp symbols in colors of your choice\, you’ll layer designs to transform a blank piece of fabric into an original work of art. Along the way\, you’ll explore key artistic concepts such as color\, design\, symmetry\, pattern\, and balance. All materials are water-based\, non-toxic acrylics safe for all ages. \nAbout the Instructor:\nAsual Aswad has been teaching the arts to Bay Area youth for many years. DESCRIPTION:Sebastopol World Friends presents the Community Presentation from a five person delegation visiting Sebastopol from Ukraine. These five women are in Sebastopol through a U.S. Congressionally sponsored program- Open World. This program brings professionals from former Soviet and developing countries to the U.S. to experience our form of governance and to study focused topics. This particular group’s focus is “Serving Children in Time of War” and “Establishing Child and Family Counseling Networks”. During their two week stay they will visit schools\, social service agancies\, and meet with the people who organize those services. They will also meet with elected officials- City Council\, County Supervisor\, State legislators\, and U.S. Representative Jared Huffman. There will also be some tim for sightseeing as well. \nAt this presentation\, the delegates will share their experiences in Ukraine and some of their initial impressions of their U.S. visit. \nThis event is free and open to the entire community. Light refreshments will be available.
