DESCRIPTION:We’re pleased to announce the exciting plans we have in store for The 39th Annual Russian River Watershed Cleanup on Saturday\, September 20\, 2025! We’re looking forward to gathering again with you to show the river some love and care when the summer comes to a close. The September cleanup is our largest of the year and helps remove trash that accumulates over the summer months on the Russian River. This year\, there will be teams across the watershed from Ukiah to Monte Rio all contributing with the shared mission of protecting our river and ocean from trash pollution. This year\, we’re aiming to beat our 2024 record\, when 600 volunteers removed 9.45 tons of trash and 119 tires—and we can’t do it without you. We encourage you to join in the spirit of stewardship\, community\, and fun. The Russian River is our most valuable natural resource and benefits our entire community – your support is very much needed and appreciated!

DESCRIPTION:Seed saving gives us the opportunity to work with full life cycle of a plant not just the edible parts. Once you’ve collected your seed it’s important to know how to separate this seed from the chaff or from it’s pulpy fruit! Saving your own seeds is a deeply satisfying task that connects us to our ancestors who saved seeds from foraged and grown crops. It is also a way to save lots of money when you learn how to grow and process your own localized seeds. \nIn this hands-on class\, you will learn a variety of seed processing techniques. There will be demonstrations of dry and wet seed processing. Learn how to winnow dry seeds and how to make and use seed screens. Get messy with fermented tomato seeds. \nWe will be processing broccoli\, beans and tomato seeds. \nCSE Volunteers \nWe’ll be set up outside the seed library. \nFree class. Donations appreciated.

The 45-minute tours will include visiting homes and other locations on the property. \nWe will be showcasing five models of electric cars\, an integrated charging tracking system for our 11 electric vehicles\, eight solar systems\, four heat pump water heaters\, mini-split heating and cooling\, induction stoves and a series of beautiful gardens. In honor of North Bay Zero Waste Week – 10/11 – 10/18\, we will also share a number of our Zero Waste practices. \nTours will be followed by Q&A sessions. A self-tour handout will also be available\, but you will not be able to go inside any homes. \nBike parking will be provided on-site. Driving? Please carpool\, if possible.
