DESCRIPTION:The current show\, WATER\, at Sebastopol Gallery\, encompasses a selection of current and past works by Sonoma County ceramicist\, Chris Boyd\, and Sonoma County expressionist painter\, Paula Matzinger.\nFrom small mountain streams to the Pacific Ocean\, Paula Matzinger is drawn to water. Water finds its way into many of Paula’s paintings\, from the reflection of light and color in the water of a small pond\, to the patterns of waves and foam on a beach\, to the glistening paths winding through a marsh.\nChris Boyd\, long time ceramic artist and teacher\, can often be seen at the coast collecting seaweed to decorate her thrown vessels and sculpted salmon.  She also incorporates cow dung\, saw dust and many dried materials like orange and banana peels and walnut shells to create the color patterns and smokey appearance absorbed into the clay. Our tides and rivers are reflected in her ceramics in the swirling appearance left by the fire.\nReception: December 9\, 4pm to 6pm.

Transitioning into the dramatic repertoire\, hers is a voice opening into the repertoire of Verdi\, Strauss\, and Wagner while still maintaining the supple flexibility to perform works by composers such as Mozart and Massenet.\nOriginally an instrumentalist\, Jill’s singing evolved from her extensive background as a violinist and pianist. She is a recipient of the Paul L. & Phyllis Wattis Foundation Scholarship\, the Anna Freeland Memorial Prize\, and the Vocal Department Award at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. DESCRIPTION:Come celebrate and enjoy a discussion with a panel arts educators about Corita and why creativity matters. As well enjoy a short documentary about Corita called Become Microscope by Aaron Rose. We are grateful to have three guest speakers who are all inspired by and knowledgeable about Corita Kent and her life and legacy. The speakers are: Ziggy Rendler-Bregman\, Britt Royer and Suzanne Schmidt. See the additional flyer for a short bio on each one. \nWe will have light food and drinks to keep everyone in good spirits. \nPlease let me know if you have any questions\, and please spread the word with those you know who may appreciate this special event.

SUMMARY:Sebastopol Charter Waldorf Wonder Auction
DESCRIPTION:The holiday months are almost here\, and we’re setting about to make our school’s fundraising as fun as possible! Online auctions have long been a successful means of raising funds for our school’s specialty programs and highlighting the talents and services of our extended school community. \nFunds raised from shopping at our Waldorf Wonder Auction go to support public Waldorf education at Sebastopol Charter School through the school’s fundraising entity\, The Charter Foundation. \nThe Charter Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public nonprofit corporation. We use the funds we raise to cover the gap in expenses between what the state provides and what it costs to maintain our school’s facilities\, hire high quality faculty\, and implement the meaningful Waldorf programming that makes up our curriculum. \nFor 28 years\, hands-on learning in the arts\, music\, and movement have helped our students to flourish\, and our recent move to a 20 acre campus promises a bright future for our school. All of these efforts were made possible by the dedication of our past and present families and extended business community.
