For children under the age of 10\, we recommend having an older sibling or adult register to join us and make a monster\, too! \nAbout the Instructor: From her earliest memories\, Jenny Lauck has always loved making little odd ball friends\, using a variety of mediums. After too many years without a creative outlet\, Jenny took ceramics courses at Santa Rosa Junior College. As soon as she got her hands on the clay again\, simple shapes started to develop personalities of their own\, and families of ceramic monsters were born. Jenny is the Saturday morning facilitator for the Sebastopol Center for the Arts Ceramics Studio.

The class will gather in the farm’s old barn\, around a large wooden farm table filled with autumnal abundance – colorful straw flowers and beautiful heirloom gourds – to paint a fall still life. Participants will work step by step through rendering our subjects with close observation\, foundational drawing skills\, and watercolor technique. With a mix of demonstration and individual instruction\, artists of all experience levels can walk away with a meaningful creative experience. After painting\, you will enjoy lunch\, prepared by farmer Bree and made from produce grown on the farm.

Participants will create and print their own fabric designs in what Asual calls “Talking Cloths.” \nUsing 4–6 hand-painted stamp symbols in colors of your choice\, you’ll layer designs to transform a blank piece of fabric into an original work of art. Along the way\, you’ll explore key artistic concepts such as color\, design\, symmetry\, pattern\, and balance.
