Upper Driveway. \nImportant Information:\nNo registration required—just show up!\nPlease use the second driveway and park in the upper lot near the greenhouses.\nThe tour route includes steep hills and unpaved dirt and gravel paths. Sturdy shoes\, a brimmed hat\, and weather-appropriate layers are recommended.\nIf you require mobility support or have other accessibility needs\, please call ahead so we can accommodate you. The OAEC Nursery is a nonprofit nursery dedicated to uplifting ecologically and culturally important plants\, focusing on perennial food\, medicinal\, and native varieties\, and an ever-evolving selection of annual food crops.\nThe event will take place April 3rd and 4th\, from 11 am – 5 pm\, and will feature live music and a public tour on Saturday\, the 4th at 1 pm. For our re-opening in 2026\, we are making a couple of big changes: we are expanding our hours to Wednesday through Saturday from 11 am – 5 pm\, and we’ll be staying open year-round!

Whether you’re a home grower with a few backyard trees or an orchard management professional\, you’ll gain valuable insights from this focused session. Paul will explore essential topics including the definition and physiological causes of alternate bearing\, best practices for pruning\, irrigation\, and nutrition\, as well as practical strategies to reduce alternate bearing and improve overall olive production. The class covers both organic and conventional farming methods\, giving you a comprehensive toolkit for cultivating healthier\, more productive olive trees. \nThe session will be held in our milling area\, with portions taking place in the orchards if weather permits. Please dress in comfortable layers to accommodate changing conditions and wear closed-toe\, non-slip footwear suitable for walking on uneven terrain. Coffee and tea will be provided throughout the event. \nPaul Vossen is a legendary local Farm Advisor and Emeritus Extension Agent who retired from UC Davis in 2016 after 35 years of distinguished research and teaching. He holds an M.S. in Tree Crops Production and a Certificate in Olive Oil Production from Cordova\, Spain\, and is passionate about helping farmers and home growers cultivate exceptional fruit.
