SUMMARY:MovingWriting: Embodied Expressive Writing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In MovingWriting workshops\, we play with movement/dance and words to help us connect with our deep and creative selves\, in the company of a supportive circle. Giving voice to our own stories and witnessing the stories of others brings healing\, aliveness\, and connection with others. \nWe begin by moving to music in whatever way calls you. There’s no way to do this wrong! We then gather and write in response to an offered prompt. Then we dance a little more\, and write a little more\, and share our writing with each other along the way. No moving or writing experience is necessary. Bring a journal or notebook\, pens\, and a willingness to step into something new. \nLimited to 8 participants.

SUMMARY:Reading and Reflection: The Panther\, the Black Dog\, and the Mystery of (Un)Becoming
DESCRIPTION:Join me for an hour shaped by image\, story\, and transformation. We begin in the dim enclosure of Rainer Maria Rilke’s “The Panther\,” where seeing becomes a kind of reckoning\, and the question of how we break through our own inner cages begins to stir\, followed by a reading of my personal response.\nIn the second half\, we shift into storytelling with the ancient Native American tale of the Old Woman and the Black Dog\, a story that moves like a shadow through memory\, asking each listener: where do you stand within it\, and what has it come to teach you?\nBetween poem and myth\, observation and reflection\, this gathering invites you to listen closely—until something shifts\, then share thoughts and feelings.

SUMMARY:MovingWriting: Embodied Expressive Writing
\nHere’s what a few MovingWriting participants had to say about their experience: \n“Loretta’s well-crafted writing prompts sparked a writer inside me that I didn’t know I had… I left feeling invigorated\, accomplished and proud of myself for trying something new.” \n“I’m neither a writer nor a dancer\, but Loretta made it easy to put aside my inhibitions and let my emotional body lead the way… I recommend this class for anybody at all!” \n“It felt delicious to dive into my creative moving and language self with others. For days after\, I felt both emptied and filled up creatively in ways that I hadn’t felt in a long time.” \n“I felt refreshed\, renewed\, and like I had processed some emotional blockages… The paths were opened and the words just flowed.”

SUMMARY:NBLA Holiday Open House Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:We have been having some version of this Holiday Open house event for over a decade. It’s a great time of the year to open up and share our space with the community and our friends\, hopefully make some new ones in the process. Our members also share a selection of their own works and available to discuss the process. There will be items for sale ranging from cards\, small notebooks to larger framed prints\, and everything in between. \nIn tandem\, a portion of our Corita Kent Spotlight Month will remain up through the month\, this includes the silent auction fundraiser with 27 items from 9 artists and organizations. The sale of these items are critical in supporting our annual fundraising goal\, and there are some amazing pieces featured\, including original signed and framed Corita Kent print\, and an original Jose Posada print that is over a 100 years old. \nFor a preview of the silent auction and to bid or buy early\, it’s all online at the link below\, and end’s 12/13:\nhttps://givebutter.com/c/coritarules \nWe would love to see some from our community come out and support the notion that “words matter” and the original social media still can get like’s and follows.

SUMMARY:MovingWriting: Embodied Expressive Writing
DESCRIPTION:In MovingWriting workshops\, we play with movement/dance and words to help us connect with our deep and creative selves in the company of a supportive circle. Giving voice to our own stories and witnessing the stories of others brings healing\, aliveness\, and connection with others. \nNo moving or writing experience necessary! \nHere’s what a few recent MovingWriting participants had to say about their experience: \n“Loretta’s well-crafted writing prompts sparked a writer inside me that I didn’t know I had… I left feeling invigorated\, accomplished and proud of myself for trying something new.” \n“I’m neither a writer nor a dancer\, but Loretta made it easy to put aside my inhibitions and let my emotional body lead the way… I recommend this class for anybody at all!” \n“It felt delicious to dive into my creative moving and language self with others. For days after\, I felt both emptied and filled up creatively in ways that I hadn’t felt in a long time.” \n“I felt refreshed\, renewed\, and like I had processed some emotional blockages… The paths were opened and the words just flowed.” \nCome move and write with us!
