DESCRIPTION:Join us for an outing to Willow Creek! This free seven mile\, 3+ hour hike led by Forest Unlimited showcases the environment of a recovering river valley and redwood forest following centuries of human impact. \nDuring this out and back hike will be explaining some of the ecology and history of the Willow Creek watershed\, as we explore a landscape that transitions from riparian to second growth redwood forest. This is one of the most beautiful areas of the Sonoma Coast\, preserved and protected thanks to the work of Forest Unlimited and multiple organizations and public agencies. Forest Unlimited opposed multiple logging plans in Willow Creek and played a role in convincing Mendocino Redwoods to sell to Sonoma Coast State Parks. \nThis hike will take place on the morning of Saturday March 30. DESCRIPTION:The current show\, WATER\, at Sebastopol Gallery\, encompasses a selection of current and past works by Sonoma County ceramicist\, Chris Boyd\, and Sonoma County expressionist painter\, Paula Matzinger.\nFrom small mountain streams to the Pacific Ocean\, Paula Matzinger is drawn to water. Water finds its way into many of Paula’s paintings\, from the reflection of light and color in the water of a small pond\, to the patterns of waves and foam on a beach\, to the glistening paths winding through a marsh.\nChris Boyd\, long time ceramic artist and teacher\, can often be seen at the coast collecting seaweed to decorate her thrown vessels and sculpted salmon.  She also incorporates cow dung\, saw dust and many dried materials like orange and banana peels and walnut shells to create the color patterns and smokey appearance absorbed into the clay. Our tides and rivers are reflected in her ceramics in the swirling appearance left by the fire.\nReception: December 9\, 4pm to 6pm.

This fall\, 130 professional local artists from Healdsburg to Petaluma and Sonoma to the Coast will welcome visitors into their studios to see the paintings\, prints\, drawings\, mixed media art\, jewelry\, sculpture\, photography\, fiber arts\, ceramics\, glass\, and woodworking that make Sonoma County an art destination. \nThe last weekends of September 30 – October 1 and October 7-8\, visitors can plan their own tour using the full-color Collector’s Guide (available in print and online). The self-guided tour and the Collector’s Guide are FREE! To locate the art studios and see an image of their work\, download the guide at www.SonomaCountyArtTrails.org or pick up a print version at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts\, 282 S. High Street\, Sebastopol\, CA 95472\, and at stores and galleries throughout the County. Then follow the blue signs posted around the county that direct visitors to each studio. This fall\, 130 professional local artists from Healdsburg to Petaluma and Sonoma to the Coast will welcome visitors into their studios to see the paintings\, prints\, drawings\, mixed media art\, jewelry\, sculpture\, photography\, fiber arts\, ceramics\, glass\, and woodworking that make Sonoma County an art destination. \nThe last weekends of September 30 – October 1 and October 7-8\, visitors can plan their own tour using the full-color Collector’s Guide (available in print and online). The self-guided tour and the Collector’s Guide are FREE! To locate the art studios and see an image of their work\, download the guide at www.SonomaCountyArtTrails.org or pick up a print version at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts\, 282 S. High Street\, Sebastopol\, CA 95472\, and at stores and galleries throughout the County. Then follow the blue signs posted around the county that direct visitors to each studio. The Art Trails Preview Exhibit features a piece of work by each of the participating artists\, taking place at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts. The Opening Reception will be on Thursday\, September 14\, from 6-8pm\, and the show continues through October 15th\, when we will host a closing reception. Additional smaller Preview Exhibits will be at Corrick’s and My Daughter the Framer in Santa Rosa\, Gallery One in Petaluma\, and Healdsburg Center for the Arts\, and Bodega Art Gallery. Collector’s Guides are also available at these locations. \nEXPLORE the beauty of Sonoma County’s wine country as the vineyards take on their fall colors. ENGAGE with the artists\, observe their process\, and learn what inspires them. COLLECT art directly from the artists who create it. \nSonoma County Art Trails Open Studios event takes place Saturday and Sunday\, September 30 – October 1 and October 7-8. Hours are 10am-5pm.
