SUMMARY:Winter Botanicals: 2 Session Watercolor Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In this two week workshop\, students will learn a unique approach to watercolor\, intended to address the frustration that many feel with this challenging medium. The class will focus on strengthening one’s observational skills\, while learning a watercolor technique that teaches the artist to see value and color. \nOver the two weeks we will work on 1 painting\, progressing through guided steps to build a luminous botanical painting. With a mix of demonstrations and individualized instruction\, students of all experience levels will develop new skills and have a meaningful creative experience. \nOur subject will be seasonal botanicals\, the iconic and recognizable plants that decorate our holiday season\, such as holly and poinsettias. These subjects are great for beginners and master painters alike; their organic shapes are forgiving drawing subjects\, but their beauty can be a muse for life. \nInstructor Hannah Day is a passionate plant painter and will share her unique approach to rendering botanicals. This class will work from photos\, practicing observational drawing\, in addition to watercolor technique.
