SUMMARY:The Sacred Feminine\, Now More than Ever An Evening Consideration for Women and Men
DESCRIPTION:Tonight’s invitation is to spend some time with two elders\, women who have been walking a Path of the Sacred for many decades: Ginny Matthews within Buddhism and as an elder with “Women of Spirit and Faith\,” and Regina Sara Ryan in both Christian and Hindu spiritual communities. With them\, we’ll consider what the Sacred Feminine is\, along with its relation to and need for the Sacred Masculine\, and how we may encourage these essential aspects of our souls\, for our own benefit and for the healing of a sorely wounded world. \nMyosho Ginny Matthews finds her life’s support in the three pillars of family\, spiritual practice\, and her work as a dancer/ choreographer and teacher. She was a student of Kyozan Joshu Sasaki\, Roshi for forty years\, taking ordination in 2000 and supporting Myoko Ni Sorin\, a women’s practice center\, co-founding Dharma Heart Center\, and leading women’s retreats at various centers in the USA and Canada. Her marriage of over fifty years\, three adult sons\, and four grandchildren provide a rich and deep family life. \nRegina Sara Ryan\, a professional writer and freelance editor\, is the author of numerous books\, including The Woman Awake\, Praying Dangerously\, and Igniting the Inner Life. A former Catholic nun\, Regina has studied contemplation and mysticism from several traditions for over forty years. She currently conducts study groups\, retreats and workshops in the U.S.\, Mexico and Europe. Married for forty-seven years\, Regina was widowed in 2019. She resides as a hearth-keeper at Triveni Ashram\, Paulden\, Arizona.

SUMMARY:An Evening with Amazonian Leader Ramiro Vargas
DESCRIPTION:First contacted by the Western world in the 1960’s\, the Achuar people of the Ecuadorian Amazon have spent the intervening decades protecting the rainforest from oil drilling\, gold mining\, and logging. The Achuar recognize themselves to be the forest and understand that the protection of the jungle\, their culture and their communities are inseparable. \nCome spend an evening with Achuar guide and leader of his community\, Ramiro Vargas\, lovingly known as Chumpi\, in conversation about the Achuar way of life and what it is to live at one with nature. Chumpi will speak about how\, despite increasing threats of environmental destruction and cultural imperialism\, they are nurturing and sustaining their language\, lifeways\, and traditions. \nCommunity cohesion and capacity for intergenerational exchange are critical for the protection of territory\, traditional knowledge and rights. Chumpi will share the simple but innovative ways of fostering unity in the Achuar territories.

SUMMARY:Entering a World of Awe and Spontaneity: Notes from a Journeyman Diviner -- with Stuart Goodnick
DESCRIPTION:Stuart Goodnick\, Dagara Stick and Voice Diviner\, and co-founder of Many Rivers Books & Tea\n\nThe modern world in which we live is one of transactions. We do to get. We play out scripts that have been served up to us from the society in which we are enmeshed. Our lives have become mediated by screens which display a world of objects that we struggle to negotiate. The result leaves us feeling an undercurrent of emptiness and a vague sense that meaning is missing from our lives. Indigenous ways of living teach us that the world is alive and filled with spirit. Such traditions demonstrate a relational way of being in which all beings\, be they human\, animal\, plant\, or mineral are alive and in ongoing conversation with us. All we need to do is to learn to listen.\n\nJoin us for a demonstration and discussion about how indigenous practices such as Dagara Stick Divination and the cosmology from which it emerges\, provides a gateway through which we can enter and productively engage with a world of beauty\, awe\, and spontaneity\, and\, in so doing\, leave a life of transaction and emptiness behind.

SUMMARY:Jewish Film Festival: The Last Twins
DESCRIPTION:The Last Twins is the never-before-told story of an unsung hero of the Holocaust\, Erno “Zvi” Spiegel\, who risked everything to save dozens of young twins from almost certain death at Auschwitz. Under the shadow of Dr. Josef Mengele’s horrific experiments\, Spiegel used his courage\, compassion\, and ingenuity to shield the most vulnerable—the sets of twins targeted for brutal medical experimentation. Mengele put Spiegel in charge of the young boys\, but Spiegel used his position to protect and comfort the children\, all of whom had been torn from their families and subjected to inhumane tests under the constant threat of extermination. \nThrough first-hand testimony and exclusive archival material\, The Last Twins brings to life the voices of those who survived because of Spiegel’s defiance. It is a testament to resilience\, sacrifice\, and the power of one person to make a difference\, even in humanity’s darkest hour. \nThe documentary is directed and produced by Emmy Award-winning directors Perri Peltz and Matthew O’Neill and is narrated by Tony Award-winning actor Liev Schreiber.
