SUMMARY:Earth Nourishment with Taylor Houston
DESCRIPTION:Immerse yourself in our serene 5-acre spa retreat in West Sonoma County for a day of transformative self-care. To begin\, your journey starts with a morning of relaxation\, including a group cedar enzyme footbath\, your choice of a 70-minute massage or a 65-minute custom facial\, peaceful walking meditation through our bamboo forest\, and guided meditation in our renowned Japanese garden. Following this\, a nourishing lunch\, crafted by a local chef with fresh\, wholesome ingredients will be offered in a magical creekside setting beneath the shade of oak and bay trees. \nIn the afternoon\, Taylor Houston will guide you to connect deeply with the natural world\, your own inner rhythms\, and the healing energy of the land. To begin\, she will lead a brief educational session that helps you align your lifestyle\, eating habits\, and self-care practices with the current season. Specifically\, she will introduce seasonal herbs\, foods\, and rhythms that support vitality. \nNext\, we will activate and support the lymphatic system through gentle movement and by creating your own seasonal salt scrub using mineral salts and lymphatic-supportive herbs. As you blend your scrub\, you’ll learn how the lymphatic system supports detoxification and immunity\, and how to care for it naturally. \nAfterward\, we will conclude the afternoon with a guided meditation in communion with the spirit of rose — a plant teacher of the heart. You’ll work with rose flower essence and rose tea\, and then reflect on the experience through journaling. \nThis retreat grounds itself in herbalism\, intentional movement\, and seasonal nutrition to offer a restorative blend of education\, embodiment\, and sensory engagement. You will leave feeling deeply rooted\, refreshed\, and empowered with tools to carry the spirit of the retreat into your daily life. \nABOUT TAYLOR \nTaylor Houston serves as a holistic nutritionist\, clinical herbalist\, chef\, flower essence practitioner\, and integrative health coach\, devoted to guiding others back to their body’s innate wisdom through earth-based practices. In addition\, she carries forward a lineage of women in wellness\, interweaving whole food nourishment\, herbal medicine\, and intuitive movement to support deep\, lasting transformation. \nThrough a variety of offerings—including retreats\, workshops\, farm-to-table pop-ups\, and private coaching—Taylor creates spaces that inspire beauty\, intentional living\, and grounding in the rhythms of the earth. Her passion for kitchen herbalism and embodied wellness invites clients to remember that healing begins with the earth—one intentional meal or herbal cup of tea at a time. \nShe feels honored to co-create this Earth Nourishment retreat in partnership with the sanctuary of Osmosis Spa\, and to wholeheartedly hold space for restoration\, reconnection\, and renewal.

SUMMARY:Moon Medicine A Ritual Retreat for Renewal Full Moon Ceremony with Herbalist Jules Benefico
DESCRIPTION:Immerse yourself in our serene 5-acre spa retreat in West Sonoma County for a day of transformative self-care. Your journey begins with a morning of relaxation\, including a group cedar enzyme footbath\, your choice of a 70-minute massage or a 65-minute custom facial\, peaceful walking meditation through our bamboo forest\, and guided meditation in our renowned Japanese garden. Next\, a nourishing lunch\, crafted by a local chef with fresh\, wholesome ingredients will be offered in a magical creekside setting beneath the shade of oak and bay trees.\nIn the afternoon\, Jules will lead a Full Moon Ceremony where you’ll connect with the lunar energy through guided ritual\, meditation\, and herbal alchemy. During this time\, you’ll craft your own herbal-infused bath soak and create a custom amulet necklace—sealed with your personal intention—to carry the ceremony’s energy home with you. In addition\, we’ll work with sacred herbs\, cast a collective ritual\, and deepen into the wisdom of the moon\, exploring its ability to illuminate\, amplify\, and transform.\nUltimately\, this is a sacred invitation to pause\, reflect\, and come back to your center—held by the elements\, the earth\, and the magic of community.\nSpaces are limited. Reserve your spot to step into the enchantment. \nABOUT JULES\nJules Benefico (she/her) is a Clinical Western Herbalist\, teacher\, and ritualist who helps others connect with the Earth\, their bodies\, and the unseen through herbalism\, shadow work\, and sacred practices. Notably\, she views herbal medicine as both a healing modality and a form of activism—an accessible\, earth-based healthcare system that invites us to dig deep\, transform\, and rise in conscious action. Her approach is holistic\, rooted in magic\, inner transformation for collective wellness\, and a trauma-informed approach to healing on all levels: physical\, emotional\, mental\, and spiritual.\nFurthermore\, Jules is the founder of Boss Witch Botanicals\, where she offers mentorship programs and courses for herbalists and healers ready to grow their practice and step fully into their magic. She integrates astrology\, alchemy\, and ritual into all that she offers. In addition to her private practice\, Jules works in Communications at Traditional Medicinals\, an herbal tea company where she brings her herbal knowledge and marketing expertise to a wider audience. DESCRIPTION:How much knowledge do you have about the founding and ideals of your own country – USA? \nShare Your Ideas and Concerns in an Open Conversation – after a Short History Lesson! \nSister Federal Republics: America (1776) & Switzerland (1291)\nRome (509 BCE) & Greece (508 BCE) \n“Developing in the West of Europe is that which tends toward the emancipation of the personality\, that which seeks to overcome nationality and attain to the universally-human.” Rudolf Steiner 1918 \nThree Century Prelude to America & France: 1500’s\, 1600’s\, and 1700’s\nIn a 20 to 30-minute presentation\, the host will provide the historical context preceding the founding of America\, that also provided the soil and impulse to create an independent ‘res publica’ (the public matter). A few key biographies\, significant events\, wars\, and treaties will be described for developing a ‘sense of the times’ and create the set and setting for igniting a conversation about the ideal of America and its future. What is the ideal? \nThe ability to sustain the Ideal of America is dependent upon an educated and engaged citizenry alongside principled leaders. The current crisis of citizenship and lack of economic and financial awareness\, especially critical for high school students\, can be overcome by integrating the essence of various disciples into a coherent story that gives orientation to life. Students can learn to research\, self-educate while they educate each other with assistance from ‘guides on the side’. Examining the ideas\, aspirations\, and happenings around the founding of the United States can inform as well as inspire students and the rest of us to thoughtful and appropriate actions. \nThe NEW American civics education will be interdisciplinary: including the history of money and trade\, civics\, economics\, and entrepreneurship. This\, alongside learning through biographies the ideas and deeds of the key individuals and personalities\, the remarkable men and women from all over the world\, that created a place for the ideal of a republic for the attainment of the ‘universally-human’. \nHomework:\nAmerica the Beautiful – 1893\nKatharine Lee Bates (Singer\, Ray Charles)\n“CROWN THY GOOD WITH BROTHERHOOD FROM SEA TO SHINING SEA”\nAmerica as a World Economic Experiment

SUMMARY:Free talk: History of Fire Departments in Western Sonoma County
DESCRIPTION:Decades ago\, small fire houses in Western Sonoma County used rooftop sirens to alert firefighting volunteers. These individuals left their fields and businesses at a moment’s notice to respond to emergencies. Today\, organizations use modern equipment and technology to provide emergency services to our region. A free talk by longtime firefighter will share the evolution and history from those early days to the present. Jack Piccinni\, who has fought fires in Sebastopol for over fifty years\, will share his stories and perspective from a lifetime of keeping us safe.  This free lecture is a project from the Western Sonoma County Historical Society.
