SUMMARY:History Buzz Cafe # 548 Talking America the Beautiful? Part 2 - A West County-Wide Conversation!
DESCRIPTION:How much knowledge do you have about the founding and ideals of your own country – USA? \nShare Your Ideas and Concerns in an Open Conversation – after a Short History Lesson! \nSister Federal Republics: America (1776) & Switzerland (1291)\nRome (509 BCE) & Greece (508 BCE) \n“Developing in the West of Europe is that which tends toward the emancipation of the personality\, that which seeks to overcome nationality and attain to the universally-human.” Rudolf Steiner 1918 \nThree Century Prelude to America & France: 1500’s\, 1600’s\, and 1700’s\nIn a 20 to 30-minute presentation\, the host will provide the historical context preceding the founding of America\, that also provided the soil and impulse to create an independent ‘res publica’ (the public matter). A few key biographies\, significant events\, wars\, and treaties will be described for developing a ‘sense of the times’ and create the set and setting for igniting a conversation about the ideal of America and its future. What is the ideal? \nThe ability to sustain the Ideal of America is dependent upon an educated and engaged citizenry alongside principled leaders. The current crisis of citizenship and lack of economic and financial awareness\, especially critical for high school students\, can be overcome by integrating the essence of various disciples into a coherent story that gives orientation to life. Students can learn to research\, self-educate while they educate each other with assistance from ‘guides on the side’. Examining the ideas\, aspirations\, and happenings around the founding of the United States can inform as well as inspire students and the rest of us to thoughtful and appropriate actions. \nThe NEW American civics education will be interdisciplinary: including the history of money and trade\, civics\, economics\, and entrepreneurship. This\, alongside learning through biographies the ideas and deeds of the key individuals and personalities\, the remarkable men and women from all over the world\, that created a place for the ideal of a republic for the attainment of the ‘universally-human’. \nHomework:\nAmerica the Beautiful – 1893\nKatharine Lee Bates (Singer\, Ray Charles)\n“CROWN THY GOOD WITH BROTHERHOOD FROM SEA TO SHINING SEA”\nAmerica as a World Economic Experiment

SUMMARY:Mystical Geography of the Cosmos: The Purpose of Journey
DESCRIPTION:‘As Above So Below’\nKenan will explore the ancient hermetic maxim\, ‘As above so below’ — and its profound implications for one’s journey through life\, as well as for the various technologies of travel – both inner and outer! What is the true purpose of ‘JOURNEY’ and the power of its hidden dimension: Revelation? Sacred geography\, power spots\, and the invisible worlds around us have a profound connection to an individual’s evolutionary arc. Is there an emerging planetary consciousness that is an integration of cross-cultural theological maps and new scientific frameworks. \nKenan will introduce how one might transform mundane artifacts into extraordinary perceptual doorways and explore the ways in which the microcosm\, the human being\, reflects the macrocosm. Bring an artifact that speaks to you — a talisman\, stone\, plant\, book\, action figure\, technology\, deity\, for a thought experiment.

SUMMARY:THE ETERNAL SONG - World Premiere
DESCRIPTION:Zaya and Maurizio here. We live in Sebastopol since 2007 and you may know of us from SAND (Science and Nonduality)\, or from one of our previous films—The Wisdom of Trauma or Where Olive Trees Weep. Or maybe we’ve crossed paths in town.\nIn 2022\, we set out to document ancestral healing in Indigenous communities across the globe. What began as a single film evolved into something much greater—a cinematic journey through 13 territories\, from the Arctic to the Amazon\, exploring the deep scars of colonization and the living wisdom carried by land and lineage.\nNow that we have finished this 3-year journey\, we could not think of a better way to honor you—our local neighbors and community—than sharing our new film\, The Eternal Song\, in our town as a WORLDWIDE PREMIERE before we launch it in theaters worldwide!

SUMMARY:Volunteer at a Food Drive @ Pacific Market
DESCRIPTION:Food For Thought is a nonprofit organization dedicated to meeting the nutrition needs of people living with serious medical conditions while at risk of malnutrition and food insecurity. We host market-based food drives throughout the year\, visiting partner-stores with the support of their management. We visit both Sebastopol’s Safeway and Pacific Market monthly and would LOVE to add new volunteers to the team. Orientation/training will be provided to first-time volunteers. After that–folks can sign up as they see fit. \nVolunteers sign up for a shift running 10-12:30\, 12:30-3pm\, or 3-5pm. They greet shoppers as they enter the store\, offering a flier with a list of Food For Thought’s most needed items that week\, then enthusiastically thank folks when they drop off donations as they leave. It is a FUN and DYNAMIC process which builds connection and hope in our community. People often thank our volunteers for being there and making it so easy to help neighbors in need. This is a FABULOUS opportunity for kids and teens to volunteer either with their parents or as a group of teens depending on age and parental permission. \nContact Amanda Wood – Food Drive and In Kind Donation Manager with any questions or to sign up AmandaW@fftfoodbank.org (707) 887-1647 ext 125
