SUMMARY:OAEC Garden Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a guided tour of the Occidental Arts & Ecology Center’s demonstration gardens and living landscapes. Led by rotating OAEC staff\, these tours offer an opportunity to explore our diverse food\, medicinal\, pollinator\, and native plant gardens while learning about the ecological principles that guide our work. \nWhen: Tours start at 1pm every first and third Saturday of the month\, April through October. \nWhere: Tours start and end at the OAEC Nursery. 15290 Coleman Valley Rd\, Occidental\, CA 95465. Upper Driveway. \nImportant Information:\nNo registration required—just show up!\nPlease use the second driveway and park in the upper lot near the greenhouses.\nThe tour route includes steep hills and unpaved dirt and gravel paths. Sturdy shoes\, a brimmed hat\, and weather-appropriate layers are recommended.\nIf you require mobility support or have other accessibility needs\, please call ahead so we can accommodate you. Monday–Friday\, contact the main office at (707) 874-1557 ext. 101. \nA highlight of every tour is the OAEC Nursery\, a nonprofit nursery dedicated to uplifting ecologically and culturally important plants. The nursery features a wide selection of perennial food crops\, medicinal and native plants\, and an ever-evolving collection of annual vegetables and herbs adapted to our region.

DESCRIPTION:In MovingWriting workshops\, we play with movement/dance and words to help us connect with our deep and creative selves\, in the company of a supportive circle. Giving voice to our own stories and witnessing the stories of others brings healing\, aliveness\, and connection with others. \nWe begin by moving to music in whatever way calls you. There’s no way to do this wrong! We then gather and write in response to an offered prompt. Then we dance a little more\, and write a little more\, and share our writing with each other along the way. No moving or writing experience is necessary. Bring a journal or notebook\, pens\, and a willingness to step into something new. \nLimited to 8 participants.

Show up when it begins at 6:00 and by 8:00 you ARE a bookbinder. \nChoose either a Japanese stab-sewn book\, or a single-signature multi-hole sewn book\, or learn the essential secret to making accordion-fold books. Bring your own cover weight decorative papers and let’s go (optional)! \nOffered once in June\, July\, and August — and if you love the process\, come back in the Fall for a full-day workshop and dive deeper into this paper\, needle\, thread (and sometimes glue) world.
