SUMMARY:Rare Tomato Tasting & Watercolor Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a unique experience at Hope Acre farm\, offered once a month during the harvest season. Taste a selection of heirloom tomatoes before learning to watercolor your favorites with local artist and watercolor teacher\, Hannah Day. \nHope Acre grows over 140 varieties of rare tomatoes; with rare titles like “Indigo Blueberry” and “Rebel Star Fighter”\, your tasting will include a wide range of flavor profiles. You will dine on tomatoes that look identical but taste opposite\, tomatoes named after beloved drag queens\, tomatoes smaller than marbles\, and others larger than a softball. Your tomatoes will be served sun warm\, straight from the vine\, with local bread and cheese\, and presented with passionate musing by farmer Jai\, whose knowledge is expansive and excitement is infectious. \nAfter your tasting\, you’ll spend time looking even closer at your favorite selections of the farm’s yield. Seated in the farm’s lush outdoor space\, instructor Hannah Day will walk you step by step through rendering your subjects with close observation\, foundational drawing skills\, and a unique approach to watercolor technique. With a mix of demonstration and individual instruction\, artists of all experience levels can walk away with a meaningful creative experience. \nBYO wine or beverage of choice ~ vegan cheese will be served along with dairy selections ~ Please contact with other dietary concerns

SUMMARY:Soul Motion®: Body Prayer every Sunday in person
DESCRIPTION:BODY PRAYER IS A FACILITATED EVENT DEVOTED TO INQUIRY INTO EMBODIED CONSCIOUSNESS THROUGH MOVEMENT. \nThis class is offered every Sunday morning\, and led by Zuza Engler or another teacher. It is usually attended by a vibrant & diverse bunch of welcoming and friendly people\, some of whom have practiced Soul Motion® for years\, while some ~ never before. \nWhat to expect \nGuidance and structure are part of every week’s class as we travel across the four landscapes of Soul Motion®:\nDance Infinite (prayer space)\nDance Community (ensemble)\nDance Communion (duet)\nDance Intimate (solo) \nPractices\, structures\, and points of view are offered to facilitate the journey. Participants are invited to travel across all landscapes\, not just their favorite one: dancing by oneself\, in duet\, in ensemble with several people and eventually the whole room\, or witnessing in stillness the beauty of another’s or of everyone’s dance. \nBody Prayer offers a place to be safely uncomfortable as we experiment with ourselves and with each other in our awkward and magnificent dance at the edge of possibility. \nNo experience necessary! Everyone welcome!

SUMMARY:Flora & Fauna - Watercolor Course with Hannah Day at Bohemian Flowers Farm
DESCRIPTION:In this 4 week course\, participants will learn a unique approach to watercolor\, intended to alleviate the frustration that many experience when learning this beautiful yet challenging medium. The class will focus on strengthening one’s observational skills\, giving the artist a foundation off of which to build their paintings in a step by step layering process\, that trains the artist to see value and color \nOur subject matter will be flora and fauna – a sampling of plants and animals. These subjects are great for beginners and experienced artists alike; their organic shapes make them forgiving drawing subjects\, but their beauty can be a muse for life. \nThis class will work both from photographs and from life\, practicing observational drawing in addition to watercolor technique. With 4 class sessions\, participants will have the opportunity to develop their skills and build muscle memory with a medium that often feels like it has a mind of its own. \nAll materials provided. \nLocation: Bohemian Flowers Farm\, 121 Bohemian Hwy\, Freestone\, CA \nDates: Four Sundays – March 8\, 15\, 22\, 29 \nTime: 1 – 4 pm \nAges: Adults \nSkill Levels: All Levels

SUMMARY:History Talk: Cnopius Field - Sebastopol's First Airfield (1925-1942)
DESCRIPTION:Did you know that in 1925\, Sebastopol had its own nationally recognized airfield? Learn about this piece of unique history at a free talk at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts on Sunday\, August 30th. The airfield was the first in Sonoma County\, long before the Charles M. Schultz-Sonoma County Airport. It played a major role in the barnstorming era of the 1910s-1930s and was a lively hub for early aviation events\, stunt flying\, and community gatherings. Gary Greenough will share the colorful and fascinating history of when Sebastopol was a flying hub. This 1-hour talk is a project from the Western Sonoma County Historical Society. It will be preceded by a short update by the society board about what is happening at the Historical Society\, Luther Burbank Experiment Farm\, and West County Museum. The event is free and open to the public.
