As women, there are many reasons why we may not feel full access to our voices or feel confident to speak our truth or share our song.

Yet each of us has a unique voice and deserve not only to be heard but to feel the power of our own expression flowing free – which is our birthright as living, breathing beings on this planet.

And each one of our voices is a sacred instrument capable of immense healing for ourselves and others.

On Thursday, April 6th you are invited to embark upon a transformational embodiment journey with ceremonial cacao, breathwork, live drumming, vocal exploration, toning and song to liberate your authentic expression & reclaim your voice as you sing yourself home in sacred sisterhood.

We will close with integration space for creativity, journaling, sharing and ritual to help bridge this experience into our lives.

a journal or creative supplies (drawing book, markers, colored pencils)
water and/or herbal tea (you can also purchase tea from Soft Medicine)
your own cup for cacao (if possible)
sacred items for the altar

WHY CEREMONIAL CACAO
Ceremonial cacao is a plant medicine originally held sacred and cultivated by the ancient cultures of the Aztec & Maya.

Both of these cultures hold cacao as a highly sacred plant brought to them from the world of the gods.

Cacao is known as a heart-opening medicine, moving the blood and increasing energetic flow. At any given moment you may have a different experience with this plant teacher depending on what is present for you in your life and body.

In the Mayan cosmology, it is said that cacao is a plant that connects the heart of the earth & the heart of the sky. It is a “bridge medicine”, just like our hearts are bridges.

In our journey, cacao will assist us in moving into FLOW, allowing our energy, emotions & expression to move freely, rooted in courage and prayerful intention.

Ceremonial cacao is a whole plant medicine, rich with healthy fat, nutrients, and minerals. The cacao we will work with is from the Mayan lands now known as Guatemala, bought directly from an Indigenous women’s collective, Ruk u’x’ Ulew, which means “heart of the earth” in the Kaqchikel language.

Other Notes about Cacao

The widespread use of ceremonial cacao, at its best, can support a healing of the “chocolate industry” which has historically been exploitative, damaging to ecosystems and all-around unethical.

Ethical growth and trade of ceremonial cacao is regenerative, both for the rainforests AND Indigenous lineages and livelihoods.

NOTE: Main contraindications for high doses of cacao include: those on SSRI anti-depressants, heart medications, doing chemo or liver cleanses, experiencing migraines.

HOW TO PREPARE
For your best experience with your journey:

Come hydrated & having eaten a light meal without heavy animal fats.
Do not consume other plant medicines or alcohol within 24 hours so you can experience the purity of this spirit medicine.
Come with an intention & prayer.
Have a snack for afterwards (or you can get something to eat from Soft Medicine after)
Wear comfortable clothes for movement.
