Phil Harriman will provide current thoughts on questions like: What is a black hole? Are there limits on their sizes? What’s the evidence for a black hole at the center of our Milky Way galaxy? How was the most precise machine ever made used to detect the collision of two black holes? How can black holes be formed when some stars run out of fuel? Do black holes ever die? Did Disney’s movie “The Black Hole” (1979) really place Hell in the center of a black hole?

Phil has a BS in Physics from Caltech and a PhD in Biophysics from UC Berkeley. He currently teaches occasional courses at Sonoma State’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, where he serves on the Board and as Chair of the Curriculum Committee.
