Presentation & Conversation
Kee Nethery, Systems Engineer
The Story of Money Continued …

Accounting and money have been around since civilization began – evolving, devolving and changing form throughout many civilizations. The global nature of economic life and the digital communications revolution have made possible the birth of virtual currency and a worldwide accounting ledger. What are the ramifications?

Bitcoin is a crypto currency. It is a type of money that is based upon the math of cryptography, the math used for secret codes and such. Why does it exist? What is good about it? What is not so optimal about it? In really broad terms, how does it work? There is no math quiz at the end of the talk. What is “the blockchain”? What other crypto currencies exist?
Kee Nethery is a Registered Professional Control Systems Engineer, which has nothing to do with crypto currencies. He owned a company selling software on the internet, which had to deal with security and encryption, which kind of has similar characteristics with crypto currencies. He has colleagues who are quite involved with crypto currencies and knows just enough, hopefully, to give an introductory presentation on the topic. After the PowerPoint, let’s have a conversation.
