SBC # 543 Sacré Bleu! The Mysteries of Color – Featuring Blue – A Chemical Story of Beauty and Intrigue

The sky, the sea, an iris, a butterfly; All can be blue for different and fascinating reasons. All explored through chemistry. Blue can be generated by the structure of minerals and at other times, by complex molecular interactions. Or it could be merely an illusion! The story of blue touches history, art, science, and for the presenter, the human experience of beauty. Dr. Karen Frindell Teuscher will tell stories of atoms and light in the context of her journey into the world and beauty of colors then on to the study of chemistry and the unveiling of the many ‘Mysteries of Blue’.
Karen is a chemistry professor at SRJC and former Department Chair and STEM Chair
