NBLA Sunday Funnies Special Fundraiser Event

The Special Fundraiser Event portion of “Sunday Funnies” will feature a conversation with Benjamin Clark, Maia Kobabe and our E.D. Andrew Mecum about the relationship of printing, comics and beyond. Benjamin is the curator for the Schulz Museum and done some letterpress. Maia was a member of NBLA, and created some beautiful books and prints while here. Maia went on to get a MFA degree in Comics, and not long after released a graphic novel, Gender Queer, which has been atop the list of banned books over the last few years. As a result, that has brought em major media attention, interviews and a new book deal. In addition there will be a short movie about the subject, as well as some live printing and fundraising party tricks. For that event we will be fueling everyone with coffee from Retrograde, or tea and donuts and other fun snacks.

All proceeds go to support the mission of NBLA which is to democratize letterpress, and lower the barrier of entry and create more access for a wider audience, especially the youth in the community.
