Local Harvest: Wooden Bowls by Kalia Kliban / Reception April 15, 4-6 PM
Please join us for Local Harvest: Wooden Bowls by Kalia Kliban , showing April 3 through May 27, with a reception Saturday, April 15, 5-7 PM.
Enjoy special events during this unique show! Kalia will be turning a variety of projects in the front window of the gallery. Come see the shavings flying the week of April 3–April 8. She demonstrates April 3-5 from 10 am–5 pm, and April 6-8 from 10 am–2:30 pm. On Friday, April 7, 5-6:30 pm, join us for an artist talk, “From Tree to Bowl.” Kalia will describe and demonstrate how she makes her bowls, all the way from locally harvested logs to finely finished works of functional art. She’ll have tools, wood and bowls to pass around, and there will be plenty of time for questions. Sebastopol Gallery features the work of over twenty Sonoma County artists and is open daily, 10 am-5 pm.
“Functional bowls are an intimate and personal form of sculpture, and at their best are pleasing to both the eye and the hand. When you use a wooden bowl you are connected not only to the tree from which it was made, but also to the hands and eyes of the person who made it, and to the many choices they made along the bowl’s path from tree to table.” Kalia Kliban
