The fall quarterly meeting and potluck of the Western Sonoma County Historical Society will be held at the United Methodist Church at 500 N. Main St. in Sebastopol (across from Safeway.) The event is a Hippie Reunion to celebrate the 10-month success of “The Hippies” exhibit held at the West County Museum which just closed. The party will be a redo of the “Hippie Happening” held last October at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts to kick-off the opening of the exhibit. Hippies, wanted-to-be-hippies, and the skeptical are invited to come and share their experiences in the west County 1967-1973. Ramon Sender Barayon, the historian of Morning Star and Wheeler’s will launch his 600-page tome and sign copies of the book containing tales told by the residents about their experiences plus 300 photographs. Former Supervisor Ernie Carpenter will keep order, and add his own comments.
